MANHOOD 101
"Providing our Black Boys a Snapshot of MANHOOD"
Bleu Colquitt and Dr. Gorman Brown founded Manhood 101 (MH101) in 2012. Dr. Brown needed a mentoring program to slow down the incorrigible acts and high suspension rate of black and brown boys at Charles H. Flowers High School, where he is the principal.
In 2012, Dr. Brown collaborated with “Coach” Bleu Colquitt to establish MH101 at C.H. Flowers HS, which became one of the DMV’s top mentoring programs for young Black boys.
Our group of strong mentors has helped over 1500 boys on their path to success. Since our inception, we have had a graduate rate of 98% among our boys, and many have gone on to become community developers and leaders in their communities.
We are extremely grateful for the support of the Lambda Gamma Gamma Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., their Uplift Foundation, and Omega Gold Development Group, Inc. for their years of generous support over the years.
