Legacy in Motion: Manhood 101’s 2nd Annual Mentoring and STEM Camp Ignites Purpose and Possibility
In the heart of Prince George’s County, a movement is growing—one rooted in mentorship, STEM innovation, and the unwavering belief that young Black and Brown boys deserve every opportunity to lead, thrive, and transform their communities. That movement came alive once again at the **2nd Annual Manhood 101 Mentoring and STEM Camp**, held from July 30 to August 2, 2025, at Camp William S. Schmidt in Brandywine, Maryland.
The video, produced by Manhood101 TV, offers a vivid glimpse into the camp’s soul: boys engaged in robotics and coding, mentors guiding with wisdom and warmth, and a community united in purpose. From sunrise hikes to late-night reflections, every moment was designed to build character, spark curiosity, and activate legacy.
Founded by Coach Bleu, Executive Director of Manhood 101, Inc., the camp is a flagship initiative in a broader mission to address systemic challenges facing young men of color—disciplinary disparities, academic disengagement, and limited access to STEM education. With over 1,500 boys mentored and a 98% graduation rate, Manhood 101 is not just a program—it’s a proven model for youth transformation.
This year’s camp featured immersive STEM labs, leadership workshops, and team-building activities led by Program Director Rasheed Akinwande and STEM Director Melvin Stallings. Campers built drones, solved engineering challenges, and explored environmental science—all while learning the principles of manhood, accountability, and vision placemaking.
The video captures powerful testimonials from mentors and campers alike. One young participant shares, “I learned how to be a better leader, how to think before I act, and how to build something with my own hands.” Another mentor reflects, “We’re not just teaching skills—we’re shaping futures.”
Support from Councilman Sydney Harrison and sponsors like OS Strategies ensured that the camp was fully funded, with transportation, meals, and materials provided at no cost to families. This commitment to accessibility underscores the program’s core belief: every boy deserves a seat at the table of opportunity.
As the video closes, viewers are left with a sense of urgency and hope. The camp is more than an event—it’s a launchpad for generational change. Plans are already underway for expanded programming, including year-round STEM clubs, digital leadership academies, and new chapters across the DMV.
In a world that often overlooks the potential of young men of color, Manhood 101 is a beacon. The 2nd Annual Mentoring and STEM Camp didn’t just teach science—it taught legacy, leadership, and love.
And the movement is just getting started.
